Just before I gave a talk on eating, exercise and super health recently, I was talking to an attendee, a man about my age.
He said, "Okay, tell me what you do, who you are, in less than 30 seconds. I told him in less than 15 seconds: "I believe now is the most spectacular time and place in history, when anyone can cultivate a level of health unheard of before in human history, using our abundance of healthy foods available to us and using what we know about exercise and physiology."
He responded by rattling off his numerous physical ailments—his back pain and arthritis among them. These had nothing to do with what he ate, he assured me, as he ate pretty healthfully, he said. I could not disagree more. He said his diet consisted of some meat, some fish and dairy, along wth lots of veggies and fruit.
Rather than respond to him, I instead referred to our conversation in my talk to make my main point: our eating and drinking are the most important things we do every day. More important than our jobs, families, financial portfolio, mortgage, hobbies, life quests and all the rest. Our diets are the energy-giving, strength-enhancing foundations upon which all of these other wonderful things are built.
And if we're not feeding our bodies the finest premium fuels, we're not only shortchanging ourselves, but cultivating various ailments, and sowing the seeds for much more serious health conditions. The finest, premium fuels do not include meat, fish and dairy products. I know—I ate those three and other poor food choices for the better part of my life and was not only overweight but had more than my share of various, nagging ailments.
I don't eat any animal products any more and I am no longer overweight or suffer from any ailments, chronic health conditions or diseases whatsoever. Including arthritis and back pain. I haven't been to a doctor in over 20 years. I enjoy the super health I talk about and urge others to partake of in my books and talks.
I hope my guy in the audience got it. I hope you do, too. Eat a plant-based diet of whole, fresh, natural foods, without any animals, dairy products or eggs. You'll be doing yourself, our environment and the animals a huge favor.
